Melanie Fernandez, M.A., R.C.C.

Melanie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and provides counselling to both youth and adults. Her prior work experiences as a Behaviour Interventionist, Intake Worker and her current role as a Therapist have provided her with the skills required to connect well with her clients. Melanie’s experiences have provided her with the opportunity to support youth and adults struggling to cope socially, emotionally and behaviourally. More specifically, she has worked alongside those dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD and disordered eating. Melanie also has expertise in working with adults working through childhood adversity and adults navigating life transitions.

Melanie is committed to providing clients with a safe, non-judgmental environment where their concerns can be addressed with respect, compassion, and care. She has a deep respect for working within a multi-cultural lens. This framework provides her with the opportunity to appreciate that all people view the world through different lenses and, therefore, have unique experiences within their internal and external worlds.

Melanie offers a warm and empathic approach with a strong commitment to strengthen the health and well-being of individuals. Her over-riding theoretical orientation is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but in practice, she pulls from a wide variety of techniques that are tailored towards the individual. In her leisure time, Melanie enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, dog sitting, and, as a former professional dancer, she enjoys being physically active.
