Golie Shamloo, M.A., R.C.C.

Golie is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who has been in the helping profession in our community since 2001, working with people of all ages. Golie recognizes the vital role of culture and life experiences in shaping an individual’s values and behaviours. She knows from her own experiences that clients come to counselling with various life narratives, worldviews and backgrounds. 

Golie has experience working with a variety of clients, including individuals, couples, adolescents, and families. She has worked extensively with adolescents and adults with substance misuse, trauma and other mental health concerns. Moreover, through her professional and educational experiences, Golie has a focused appreciation of family dynamics, conflict resolution, personal growth, stress, substance misuse, crisis management, relationship struggles, anxiety, self-confidence and transitions in life. 

Golie views the counselling relationship as an opportunity to support clients to live more satisfying lives and addresses each client with an attitude of acceptance, reverence and inquisitiveness, to support clients in their journey toward self-discovery and personal growth. She takes a person-centred approach by collaborating with clients to establish goals and treatment options. Golie provides services in English and Farsi. 

Outside of work, Golie leads an active lifestyle which includes running and hiking. She also enjoys quality time with family and friends.
