LisaLisa Holien, M.A., C.C.C

Lisa is a Canadian Certified Counsellor who specializes in counselling adolescents and women of all ages.  Lisa brings a diversity of life experiences into the counselling room. In her early career, she worked internationally in the fashion industry which deepened her understanding of the issues pertaining to body image, disordered eating and low self esteem.  Lisa also ran a successful business when her children were younger and is well acquainted with the complexities of maintaining an attachment-based family life while working to succeed professionally.

More recently, Lisa founded, secured funding, administered and provided counselling for a counselling psychology program at a provincial women’s center.  In this role, Lisa worked with a diverse population of women and assisted them on many issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, family violence, relationship issues and life transitions.  As such, she brings an in-depth understanding of the challenges girls and women face expressing their authentic voice and developing a grounded way in the world.

Lisa uses an integrative approach to best match the psychological needs of her clients and draw forth their innate capacity for healing. Her style is warm, attentive, and grounded. Clients find her compassionate approach to be both welcoming and comforting. Lisa creates a secure space of trust and acceptance that is key to helping clients better understand themselves.

Her primary modalities are Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Relational Somatic, Internal Family Systems, Attachment, Cognitive, and Emotion-Focused. Above all, her priority is to establish and maintain a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship in which the client feels safe, respected and valued.

Lisa is a single parent of two children, a daughter (a University student) and a teenage son (a high end athlete).  She loves being in nature, her dog, cycling, yoga, and photography.
